Darwin Convention Centre
Opening in mid 2008, the Darwin Convention Centre is the centerpiece of the Darwin Waterfront project. With seating for up to 1500 delegates and 4000 square metres of exhibition space, the centre will bring international conferences truly within the reach of the local market.
Construction is underway now just 10 minutes walk from the city centre, and the marketing of the centre to the international conference circuit is attracting huge interest.

World-class facility for locals and visitors
Dramatically perched over the sea, the Darwin Convention Centre will become famous not only for its stunning location but also its highly flexible and adaptive spaces. It will be able to cater for meetings, banquets, conventions and exhibitions.
The centre will be able to host a range of conventions, conferences, concerts and exhibitions, from meetings of a dozen people to major events, multi-hall conventions and exhibitions.
Proposals include
- A venue for local and international events, including conventions, sporting events, concerts and boat shows.
- A 1500-seat auditorium.
- 4000 square metres of exhibition space.
Business and Tourism boost
The Darwin Convention Centre will attract tourists, conventions and businesses.
Tourism expenditure is estimated to increase by $190 million over 20 years. The Centre alone is expected to create 160 tourism jobs for Territorians by year four of its operation, growing to over 200 new jobs by year 10.

Waterfront facilities
The Convention Centre will be complemented by outstanding waterside facilities as part of the Waterfront project.
These include extensive open spaces, restaurants and shops, harbourside cafes, watersports, wave lagoon, the new Cruise Ship Terminal at Fort Hill Wharf.
