Tourism and Heritage

In delivering a world class tropical harbour city, the Northern Territory Government has committed funding to and commenced progress on a number of new initiatives, and has started planning or given active consideration to remaining initiatives.

The following is an update on ideas and proposals presented under Tourism & Heritage during the consultation phase.

 

  • Construction well advanced on Convention and Exhibition Centre at the Waterfront
  • Civil works started on new $4.5 million Cruise Ship Terminal
  • $250 000 provided for a concept design study on the Defence of Darwin WWII Museum
  • $250 000 committed to develop a Master Plan for a civic, heritage and community meeting space and focal point between the CBD and the Waterfront
  • New tourist accommodation under construction at Saville Pandanas, Mirambeena resort and the Darwin Waterfront
  • Consultations with Traditional Owners on new Indigenous Cultural Centre underway
