Where to from here
Creating Darwin’s Future brings together a series of major new ideas and proposals for Darwin. Combined with key projects already planned or underway, it provides an overview of how Darwin could develop in the future.
Key proposals and initiatives put forward are designed to stimulate discussion and input. This is not a definitive list, and it is anticipated that other initiatives may be proposed as Government consults with councils, business and the community over the coming months.
This consultation will be an important process that will involve many different organisations including Darwin and Palmerston City Councils, business, investors and the community. An important part of the consultation will be with the Darwin City Council through the Capital City Charter.
The consultation process will be undertaken between October and the end of December 2006.
The Government will put plans in place in the first half of 2007, in partnership with other levels of government, business and the community where appropriate, to progress a range of key initiatives to create Darwin as a tropical harbour city.
While the Northern Territory Government has put together this collection of ideas and proposals, many different organisations will be involved in making these initiatives happen. The roles outlined in this document are indicative and will be finalised as part of the future planning process.
